>Rice creek watershed meeting

The Rice Creek Watershed District Board Meetings occur on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 9:00 AM in the Shoreview City Hall Council Chambers.  Meetings held on the 4th Wednesday are permitting meetings. Contact the District for specific information on the meeting at 763-398-3070

The Rice Creek Watershed District was formed on January 18th, 1972 at the request of citizens, county boards and cities. A Board of Managers, appointed by the county commissioners of Anoka, Ramsey and Washington, governs the RCWD.

The purpose of the RCWD is to conserve and restore water resources of the District for the beneficial use of current and future generations. We accomplish these goals through the following activities:

  • Managing lakes, streams, groundwater and wetlands
  • Monitoring water quality
  • Promoting best management practices to improve water quality
  • Maintaining public drainage systems
  • Inventorying natural resources
  • Issuing permits / inspecting construction sites
  • Administering the Wetland Conservation Act (WCA)
  • Educating residents about the environment and how they can help
  • Helping municipalities fulfill EPA mandates
