Wetlands
Wetlands
The more that is known how wetlands fit into our environment the more wetlands are appreciated. Difficult to cross on foot – wetlands provide a habitat and food for many plants and animals including spawning fish and waterfowl. A natural flood control feature – wetlands accept flood water without complaint. During a drought wetlands release stored water helping to supplement and maintain ground water levels. Many have come to appreciate their wetland as a natural, open, quiet and peaceful neighbor that was here before the first settler.
