The City of Columbia Heights was incorporated in 1921 and initialed a water distribution system in a cooperative agreement with the construction of the Minneapolis Water Works facility (located in Fridley) which draws and treats water from the Mississippi River. Learn more about the City’s drinking water here. All residents, approximately 20,000, are served by this public surface water supply.
